Lucas Vázquez will leave Real Madrid next summer, following the club’s signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The England international announced on Monday his departure from Liverpool at the end of his contract, with negotiations currently underway between Real Madrid and the English club to allow the player to make an early move to Los Blancos and participate in the Club World Cup.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lucas Vázquez will be the first victim of this deal, as Florentino Pérez’s administration is now considering thanking him and not renewing his contract, which expires at the end of the current season.
The administration is confident that with Arnold and Dani Carvajal’s return from injury, there will be no need for Vázquez. Furthermore, the 33-year-old player cannot be relied upon as a right winger anymore due to his advanced age.
In principle, Vázquez will play for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup, which begins in mid-June, after which the two parties will part ways without any complications. Vázquez has been subjected to particularly harsh criticism this season due to his poor form, having failed to replace the injured Carvajal, to the point where coach Carlo Ancelotti was forced to rely on Fede Valverde at right-back.
