Al Hilal CEO Steve Calzda responded to Neymar’s angry statements about the club and coach Jorge Jesus, saying that his departure is the best option for all parties.
The Brazilian international had said that he needed patience from the fans and the club after his return from injury, and also criticized Jesus for the decision to exclude him from the local list.
Calzda responded in turn by saying, “Neymar’s departure confirmed to everyone that Al Hilal is only looking for players who are able to give their maximum performance.”
He also added, “Although Neymar contributed well in terms of marketing, the athletic performance comes first.”
He continued, “We have reached the conclusion that he is no longer able to provide the desired addition, so the decision to terminate the contract by mutual consent was in the interest of all parties.”
“We are a team that competes fiercely in all tournaments and we have a limited number of foreign players. Indeed, our foreign players are doing an excellent job, but Neymar cannot add anything. I am not saying that he is no longer able to play, but his level is not enough for us,” he concluded.
