Barcelona have moved to contain the uproar surrounding Dani Olmo’s future after sporting director Deco held a meeting with the player’s agent, Juanma López, to discuss his situation and stance regarding interest from Bayern Munich.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, according to the newspaper Sport, with the aim of maintaining direct communication and preventing recent reports from generating misinterpretations, amid Olmo’s desire for a larger role in Hansi Flick’s lineup.
Bayern’s admiration for the player is not a new development, as the German club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has monitored him since his days at Dinamo Zagreb when Eberl held the same position at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The potential departure of Michael Olise or Jamal Musiala could prompt Bayern’s management to seek a new attacking reinforcement, but the German club has not yet submitted a formal offer, and no negotiations are underway between them and Barcelona.
Olmo remains committed to staying at Barcelona and fighting for a regular spot in Flick’s starting eleven, with no intention of leaving the club he waited years to return to, even if he desires more playing time.
The player has featured in all eight of Barcelona’s league matches this season, but started only three times, playing 320 minutes during which he provided three assists, alongside an assist in two Champions League appearances.
Olmo returned to Barcelona from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024, following a journey that began in La Masia before taking him to Dinamo Zagreb and the Bundesliga. He signed a contract running until June 2030 featuring a €500 million release clause.
Barcelona informed the player’s agent of their complete confidence in his abilities and the need for patience. Consequently, his departure remains a remote possibility that would only be discussed in the face of an extraordinary offer, while the shared priority is to increase his role and translate his brilliance with the Spanish national team into a more consistent presence in a Blaugrana shirt.
