Asked directly by host Manu Carreño during an appearance on El Larguero, the Spanish fullback responded: “Don’t put me in this position… step by step,” before adding that fulfilling previous pledges had already caught up with him.
The query references a promise Cucurella made prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, when he pledged to tattoo Spain manager Luis de la Fuente onto his body if he led La Roja to global glory—a promise he honored after Spain captured their second star.
Cucurella was one of three players alongside Álex Baena and Borja Iglesias to make the pledge, later debuting an image of De la Fuente inked onto his arm following the tournament.
The Real Madrid defender revealed that De la Fuente saw the tattoo and appreciated it, jokingly telling him he had “ruined his life,” though Cucurella maintained he harbors no regrets since winning a World Cup represents a once-in-a-lifetime achievement.
