Zinedine Zidane’s passionate celebration following Michael Olise’s dramatic winner against Belgium became one of the standout moments of the UEFA Nations League matchday, after the France manager sprinted down the technical area and forcefully kicked a water bottle amidst wild bench celebrations.
Olise struck the decisive goal in the 88th minute, completing a stunning solo run that originated inside the French half and sliced through the Belgian defense to secure Les Bleus’ second consecutive victory in the tournament.
Speaking about his reaction, Zidane said: “I saw him take off on the dribble and told myself he was going to score… I was right there with him with all my energy,” revealing that he began running before the Bayern Munich winger even reached the penalty area.
Addressing Olise’s qualities, the French manager added: “He is pure talent. He feels the game and knows precisely when to explode forward and when to dictate the tempo,” after the winger was introduced off the bench in the 77th minute to settle the match just 11 minutes later.
Zidane explained that his side successfully implemented a high-pressing system against a formidable opponent and displayed immense courage by pushing deep into Belgian territory. He also praised Lucas Da Cunha for an impressive senior international debut and seamless integration into the squad.
