There’s no doubt that Zamalek benefited the most from the results of the 17th round of the 2026 Egyptian Premier League.
Al Ahly stumbled with a 1-1 draw against National Bank of Egypt, while Pyramids lost to Smouha 2-1 in the final moments. Meanwhile, Zamalek secured a thrilling 5-2 victory against Ismaily Electricity.
The Egyptian Premier League is being played for the second consecutive year under a new format. The top seven teams after the first round will compete in a playoff to determine the champion, while the remaining teams will play another round to avoid relegation.
The 2026 Egyptian Premier League Standings After Round 17
Zamalek’s 3-goal victory over Ismaily Electricity was enough for the White Knights to reach second place in the Egyptian Premier League standings, ahead of Pyramids and Al Ahly.
Zamalek now has 28 points from 14 matches, the same as Pyramids, but with a superior goal difference.
Al Ahly, the defending champions, dropped to fourth place with 27 points, while Ceramica Cleopatra remains top with 32 points, having played one more game than the top three.
