Zamalek suffered a major setback after the Egyptian Professional Football League announced the penalties for Matchday 21 of the Egyptian Premier League.
Zamalek defeated their guest, Al-Ittihad Alexandria, thanks to a goal from Nasser Mansi, maintaining their lead in the competition with one round remaining in the first half.
The only blemish on the joy of the White Knights’ fans was Mohamed Shehata receiving a red card in the final moments of the first half.
Due to the straight red card, the league decided to suspend Shehata for two matches, as stipulated by the Egyptian league regulations.
Thus, the Egyptian international will miss the final match of the first half against Enppi, as well as the first match of the decisive second stage for the title, which will consist of only six rounds.
The Egyptian Football League is scheduled to hold a draw to determine the schedule for the second round matches, which will determine both the title and relegation groups, next Thursday at 9:00 PM Egypt time.
Fortunately for Zamalek, they will not face any of the top three teams, Al Ahly, Pyramids and Ceramica, in the first round, by decision of the league to maintain integrity and increase excitement in the final rounds of the Egyptian Championship.
