Zamalek SC has officially decided to appoint Serbian manager Vuk Rasovic as the new head coach of the first football team, succeeding Moatamed Gamal ahead of the upcoming season.
Gamal’s departure comes despite a successful spell where he led the White Knights to the Egyptian Premier League title and reached the CAF Confederation Cup final, where Zamalek narrowly lost on penalties to Algeria’s USM Alger.
Gamal took charge in January following the departure of Ahmed Abdel Raouf. He successfully turned the team’s fortunes around, restoring their competitiveness locally and continentally, before the board opted for an foreign head coach to lead the new campaign.
Agreement Details and Vuk Rasovic’s Coaching Background
Zamalek management finalized the agreement with Vuk Rasovic after reaching terms on financial details. According to the club’s official channel, the 53-year-old Serbian manager is expected to arrive in Cairo within 48 hours to finalize his contract and lead pre-season preparations.
Reports indicate that Rasovic accepted a salary roughly half of what he earned in previous roles due to his strong desire to manage Zamalek. However, the exact contract duration and financial figures remain unannounced.
Rasovic began his managerial career in 2006 as an assistant at Partizan Belgrade, later managing Teleoptik, Partizan, and Dynamo Minsk. He gained extensive Middle Eastern experience with Al-Faisaly and Al-Feiha in Saudi Arabia, as well as Al-Dhafra, Al-Wahda, and Ittihad Kalba in the UAE. His crowning achievement was winning the Saudi King’s Cup with Al-Feiha in 2022.
