Zamalek suffered their first defeat since returning from the international break in January, losing 1-0 to Enppi in a rescheduled match from the 15th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The only goal of the match came from Ahmed El-Agouz via a penalty kick, while Hossam Abdel-Maguid missed another penalty for Zamalek in the final minute.
With this defeat, the White Knights’ points tally remains at 43, keeping them at the top of the table but tied with Pyramids FC, with Zamalek holding the advantage on goal difference.
Meanwhile, this loss revived Al Ahly’s title hopes, as the gap between the Red Devils, Zamalek, and Pyramids FC remains at just 3 points.
Enppi undoubtedly benefited the most, as this victory brought them to 30 points and secured seventh place, thus qualifying them for the title race.
The Egyptian Premier League is scheduled to hold the draw to determine the order of matches in the title competition stage on Thursday at 9:00 PM.
The title competition group includes: Zamalek, Pyramids FC, Al Ahly, Ceramica Cleopatra FC, Al Masry SC, Smouha SC, and ENPPI SC.
