The midfielder has been out for nearly a year due to a torn cruciate ligament before returning to play for a few minutes in an Egyptian Premier League match last season.
Hamdy feels he has not fully recovered from the injury and prefers to undergo comprehensive medical tests in Germany before resuming his full participation with Zamalek.

Ahmed Hamdy has indeed traveled to Germany in recent days to undergo further tests, but he accuses the Zamalek management of not paying for them.
The crisis came to light when the player posted a status on his Instagram account, writing, “Hasbi Allah wa ni’mal wakil.”
Zamalek officials responded via the media that Ahmed Hamdy’s trip to Germany was fully paid for by the club, but the player responded sarcastically.
Ahmed Hamdy then wrote, “I need someone at the Suez Canal Bank. Ask them if 1,700 euros have been deposited into my account.”
New disciplinary decision from Zamalek against Ahmed Hamdy
According to Egyptian media reports, the Zamalek management has directed football director Wael El-Kabbani to impose a large fine against Ahmed Hamdy.
This fine is said to amount to a deduction of EGP 250,000 from his dues, to enforce discipline and prevent similar incidents from occurring again among players.
Ahmed Hamdy’s contract with Zamalek still extends until the summer of 2027, and this development may hasten his departure during the current summer transfer window.
What has Ahmed Hamdy achieved with Zamalek?
Ahmed Hamdy joined Zamalek in January 2024 on a free transfer after his contract with Montreal Impact expired. He has made only 12 appearances in the Egyptian Premier League and the Confederation Cup, scoring two goals.
Perhaps the 27-year-old’s most notable achievement was scoring the winning goal for the Confederation Cup against Nahdat Berkane at Cairo International Stadium, the same match in which he suffered a cruciate ligament injury.
