Zamalek’s board has decided to dismiss coach Jose Peseiro following Monday’s 2-2 draw with Al-Bank Al-Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League.
This setback effectively ended the Whites’ chances of competing for the Egyptian Premier League title and made it unlikely they would qualify for the CAF Champions League, with the gap between them and second-place Al-Ahly now widening to six points, with just four rounds remaining.
According to Egyptian media, Zamalek’s board fears losing even third place with Peseiro in charge, so they will not wait until the end of the season and will dismiss him immediately.
Meanwhile, the White Castle’s board is moving to appoint an interim Egyptian coach to succeed Peseiro, who will lead the team to the Egypt Cup final against Pyramids FC, scheduled for June 5.
Hussein Labib’s board has chosen Al-Bank Al-Ahly coach Tarek Mostafa to succeed Peseiro.
The crisis lies in the fact that Tarek Mostafa’s contract with Al-Ahly Bank is still valid, and his club refuses to release him during this important period of the season.
The coach confirmed in press statements that he wants to move to Zamalek, but the matter is currently in the hands of the Al-Ahly Bank management and the possibility of reaching an agreement with them.
It should be noted that Tarek Mostafa is not the only Egyptian option that has been raised in the past few hours. Ayman El-Ramady, Moamen Soliman, and Abdel Hamid Bassiouni are also said to be options on the Zamalek management’s table.
However, with the signing of Tarek Mostafa, it is unknown whether the assignment will be limited to the remaining month of the season or whether his contract will be for a season, given that he is one of the elite coaches in the Egyptian league, and it is difficult to leave Al-Ahly Bank for a temporary position.
