Zamalek Considers Dismissing Ferreira… and Two Obstacles to That

Zamalek’s management is considering dismissing coach Yannick Ferreira due to poor results, but the matter will not be easy due to the current financial crisis.

According to Egyptian media reports, Zamalek President Hussein Labib and his deputy, Hisham Nasr, will meet with sporting director John Edward in the next few hours to discuss Ferreira’s future.

The trio is expected to discuss the team’s achievements so far, before a final decision is made on whether to renew confidence in Ferreira or dismiss him immediately.

In general, Zamalek’s management is inclined to dismiss Ferreira, especially after he appears to have lost the trust of the players and fans. However, the biggest obstacle lies in the value of the release clause, as the Egyptian club will have to pay up to $100,000 to terminate the contract.

Zamalek’s other crisis is securing a successor to Ferreira. The club currently lacks the resources to bring in a high-paid foreign coach, and there are no local options that could make a difference. This makes the situation extremely complicated for Mit Okba officials.

The club is expected to issue a statement within a few hours, definitively announcing Ferreira’s position and the upcoming football season.
