Ivorian winger Yan Diomande has opened the door to a summer move to Real Madrid following positive talks between the RB Leipzig star’s representatives and the Spanish club over potential personal terms, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Real Madrid are now preparing a second proposal after Leipzig turned down their opening bid of €90 million plus €10 million in add-ons.
The pursuit is directly backed by manager José Mourinho, who made Diomande a top target for Los Blancos, informing the board of his desire to add “more raw speed” and youth to the team’s attacking line. The Portuguese tactician believes the 19-year-old talent can inject directness and explosive energy into Madrid’s attack alongside stars like Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Rodrygo.
Paris Saint-Germain have maintained contact with Diomande’s camp for weeks, but the European champions have yet to reach a deal with Leipzig, paving the way for Real Madrid to hijack the transfer and sway the player’s preference. Manchester City and Arsenal also reached out to the Ivorian international’s representatives over the last ten days, but Diomande showed no interest in moving to the Premier League, signaling that his decision is strictly between Real Madrid and PSG.
Diomande enjoyed a standout campaign with RB Leipzig, recording 13 goals and 10 assists across 36 appearances in all competitions. His impressive performances earned him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award, just one year after signing from Spanish side Leganés.
While the young winger remains under contract until June 2030 and Leipzig are keen to retain him, Diomande’s desire to join Real Madrid, combined with an imminent improved offer, could make this one of the biggest blockbuster transfers of the summer window.
