Xavi Hernandez has entered the spotlight of Al Hilal FC as a potential replacement for the sacked Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus.
Since leaving Barcelona at the end of last season, Xavi decided to take a year off and stuck to his decision despite receiving several attractive offers, most notably from Manchester United.
The Spanish coach announced about a month ago that he was looking forward to returning to coaching at the start of next season and also opened the door to the possibility of working with a club other than Barcelona in La Liga.
According to Sky Sports, Al Hilal officials are considering Xavi, who is considered a strong candidate to coach the Blue Wave in the 2025 Club World Cup, scheduled to begin in mid-June.
Xavi has an advantage over other potential candidates: his extensive knowledge of Arab football, having previously played for Al Sadd for years and then coached the club until leaving in 2021 to fulfill his dream of working for Barcelona.
The coach’s position on returning to the Arab region remains unknown, especially since his name has been linked to several European clubs recently, perhaps most notably Bayer Leverkusen, as a replacement for Xabi Alonso, who is expected to move to Real Madrid.
It should be noted that current Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is a candidate to coach Al Hilal. The Saudi club has also been linked with Marco Silva, the current Fulham coach, and the most recent name is Xavi Hernandez.
