The Germany national team came from a goal down to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast in their second group stage match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The encounter, held at the Toronto Stadium, saw a brilliant performance from the Ivorian side, who took the lead in the 30th minute through Franck Kessié. The African giants went on to squander a flurry of clinical chances throughout the ninety minutes to put the game to bed.
However, the turning point came when Germany’s manager Julian Nagelsmann introduced the duo of Nadiem Amiri and Deniz Undav in the second half to breathe life into the attack.
The Stuttgart forward did not disappoint his manager. Undav successfully netted the equalizer in the 67th minute before scoring a dramatic winner in the 93rd minute after brilliantly beating the offside trap.
This is not the first time the “Golden Super-Sub” has stolen the headlines in this tournament. Undav previously scored once and assisted twice against Curaçao, also after coming off the bench in the second half.
