According to Bild, Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade is unhappy at St. James’ Park and in the Premier League, and is once again seeking a return to the Bundesliga.
Newcastle signed Woltemade last summer for €80 million from Stuttgart, hoping he would replace Alexander Isak, who moved to Liverpool for €150 million.
Although the German had a very promising start to his Premier League career, his form has dipped considerably recently, and he has faced constant criticism, including boos from Newcastle fans.
According to Bild, Woltemade is currently unhappy in England, and the atmosphere and noise surrounding Newcastle have hindered his adaptation, negatively impacting his performances on the pitch.
Woltemade hopes to return to Germany and would welcome a move to Bayern Munich, or even a return to Stuttgart next season.
Bayern Munich were the frontrunners to sign Woltemade, but Stuttgart’s high asking price prevented the deal from going through, despite the player and the Bavarians agreeing to personal terms.
The 24-year-old German has made 41 appearances in all competitions since joining Newcastle, scoring 11 goals and providing 4 assists.
