Paul Pogba will not participate in his team Monaco’s match against Real Madrid, which will take place on Tuesday as part of the seventh round of the 2025-26 Champions League group stage.
Pogba joined Monaco last summer on a free transfer after serving a 26-month ban for doping.
The French international has suffered several injuries since returning to training with Monaco, the latest being a muscle injury sustained on December 6th, from which he has not yet recovered.
A glimmer of hope emerged in recent hours regarding the possibility of Pogba being available for the Real Madrid match, even if only as a substitute, before coach Sébastien Pocognoli announced Monaco’s squad for the Bernabéu clash, which, as expected, did not include the 33-year-old.
Meanwhile, Monaco’s sporting director, Thiago Socorro, indicated that Pogba’s rehabilitation program since his return last June is not progressing as expected. He added, “Everyone is working hard to find a solution, both the club and Paul himself. He’s very concerned because he has to fight to be more available and increase his playing time.”
Pogba has only played 30 minutes across three consecutive matches between November and December since his debut for Monaco on November 22 against Rennes.
Monaco currently sits ninth in their Champions League group with nine points, while Real Madrid is seventh with 12 points.
