Barcelona’s management is considering surgery to treat Lamine Yamal’s persistent groin pain, according to the newspaper Sport.
Yamal suffered the groin injury while playing for the Spanish national team last September, and since then, he has been unable to regain his previous form. The impact of the injury on his muscles is evident.
Yamal continues to experience intermittent pain, and the situation is worsening with the intense schedule of matches, leading to the possibility of surgery to resolve the issue completely.
Sport confirms that Yamal does not want to undergo surgery at this time and believes it is unnecessary. Initially, the Barcelona medical staff supports this view.
Barcelona’s management has consulted with doctors outside the club to assess Yamal’s condition and find solutions to his ongoing pain. They are awaiting the outcome of these consultations, but it seems most likely that the 18-year-old will not undergo surgery, at least for the time being.
Currently, Yamal is only training with a reduced workload due to the congested fixture schedule.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona’s squad has been plagued by muscle injuries this season, the latest being Pedri, who will be sidelined until December. Meanwhile, Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski have returned to full training and are nearing a return to action for Hansi Flick’s team.
