“Sport” newspaper reported that Frenkie de Jong and Pedri’s chances of participating in the match between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals are greatly increased.
The duo suffered the injury nearly a month ago, and initial reports indicated that they would not participate in the fateful PSG match or El Clásico two weeks later.
According to the Catalan newspaper, De Jong participated in part of Barcelona’s training on Thursday, then participated in the full training, including a trial match during it on Saturday.
As for Pedri, he returned and played part of the test match, and the same went for defender Andres Christensen, so their chances of reaching the Paris summit remain very high.
Xavi Hernandez and Barca’s medical staff want to be careful with the trio and not rush their return, which means their testing will continue over the coming days before deciding the fate of their participation against Paris.
In general, De Jong is the closest to participating in the Paris match without crises, provided that Pedri and Christensen are on the bench, or in the worst case their return to the Cadiz match in La Liga on Saturday is postponed.
The indication remains that if nothing new is found, the trio will be present in Real Madrid’s El Clásico match on April 21, scheduled to be held at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
