In recent hours, English media outlets have been reporting strong interest from Manchester United in signing Stuttgart star Angelo Stiller in the final days of the transfer window, a much-anticipated reinforcement for coach Ruben Amorim’s midfield.
Sky Sports reported that these reports are baseless, and that there are no negotiations between United and the German international.
At the same time, Stiller is still tied to a long-term contract with Stuttgart until the summer of 2028, and there is no release clause this summer. This makes it almost impossible for the German club to accept his departure in the coming days unless the club receives a legendary offer in excess of €100 million.
United certainly cannot afford this amount, otherwise the prestigious English club would have secured its first target this summer: Brighton star Carlos Baleba.
Stuttgart’s management has been one of the most adamant in negotiations recently, evidenced by their categorical refusal to sell Nick Woltemade to Bayern Munich, insisting on receiving more than €70 million, while the Bavarians’ offer stood at €55 million.
Thus, it is highly unlikely that Stiller will end up at Old Trafford this summer, given that there is a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave next summer for approximately €60 million.
The 23-year-old Stiegel has been on Real Madrid’s radar, and several English clubs, including Bayern Munich, are also interested in signing him.
