Yazn Al-Naimat’s name has emerged as a potential option on Al-Ahly’s agenda to succeed Wessam Abou Ali as the Red Devils’ attacking midfielder next season
Abou Ali is close to leaving Al-Ahly and heading to the American club Columbus Crew after the two sides reached a near-agreement on the deal, which is expected to be worth a total of $8 million.
According to Egyptian media reports, Al-Ahly has set its sights on Al-Naimat and has entered into preliminary negotiations with the Jordanian international, who plays for Al-Arabi of Qatar and whose contract still extends until the end of next season.
Al-Naimat welcomed the move to Al-Ahly, but it appears extremely difficult for several reasons.
First, Al-Ahly must buy out Al-Naimat’s contract from Al-Arabi, a task that would be extremely difficult and costly. Furthermore, the player wants to earn the same $3 million salary he earns in the Egyptian Premier League, a figure the Egyptian club currently cannot meet.
Even if Al-Ahly manages to secure the funds necessary to finance the deal, Mahmoud El Khatib’s management will first need to release one of its five foreign players to make room for Al-Naimat’s local registration.
Al-Ahly currently has a quintet of Achraf Dari, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Aliou Dieng, Achraf Bencharki, and Neyts Gradischer. There are reportedly attempts to offload Dari, while Dieng himself is keen to return to the Saudi League, given his insistence on earning $1.8 million annually, while the Red Devils’ offer for him has been set at just $1 million.
It’s worth noting that Yazan Al-Naimat is one of the most prominent Arab strikers in recent years. He is remembered for his outstanding performance in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup with Jordan, and he recently led the team to the 2026 World Cup.
