Morocco has become the Arab country that has won the most Champions League titles, thanks to Real Madrid’s victory in the 2024 edition after defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final.
Brahim Diaz did not participate in the final match, but he participated in 9 Champions League matches this season, during which he scored two goals and assisted another, to be counted among the champions of the competition with Real Madrid.
Diaz became the third Moroccan player to win the Champions League, the first being Achraf Hakimi with Real Madrid in 2018, and the second being Hakim Ziyech with Chelsea in 2021.
3 Moroccan players have achieved the most expensive title in the club world, more than any other Arab nationality.
Algeria ranks second after only two of its players won the Champions League, namely the legend Rabah Madjer with Porto in 1987 and Riyad Mahrez with Manchester City in 2023.
Egypt is the third Arab nationality, represented by Mohamed Salah, who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2019.
But Egypt and Algeria have an advantage over Morocco in another matter, which is scoring in the final matches. Salah scored with the Reds against Tottenham in the 2019 final, and Madjer scored his historic goal with Porto in the final. As for the Moroccans, they have never scored in the most expensive finals.
