Following the huge success of the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States, various countries have begun competing to host the second edition of the tournament, scheduled for 2029.
According to Marca, three countries are currently hoping to host the next edition of the Club World Cup, which will also feature 32 teams.
Where will the 2029 Club World Cup be held?
Brazil is the first country to submit its bid to host the next Club World Cup, relying on its world-class infrastructure and having successfully hosted the 2014 World Cup.
Surprisingly, Morocco and Spain also want to host the competition, but each country wants to do so alone, rather than in a joint bid, as is the case with Portugal for the upcoming 2030 World Cup.
The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, had previously confirmed that his country would “without a doubt” be among the candidates to host the Club World Cup.
There has already been communication between Lekjaa and FIFA officials, including offers of organizational and logistical guarantees that would facilitate Morocco’s bid to host the 2029 edition.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino is reportedly the one who hopes to have the tournament held in Morocco, hoping it will be the perfect preparation for the 2030 World Cup.
Hosting such an event in Morocco could strengthen its position in its battle with Spain over which stadium will host the 2030 World Cup final.
