Barça face Espanyol in the Catalan derby on Saturday, and a victory for Hansi Flick’s men would extend their lead over Real Madrid to nine points with only seven matches remaining.

Initially, Barcelona could secure the title based solely on their remaining home games at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona will play four home matches, starting with the derby against Espanyol, followed by Celta Vigo, El Clásico against Real Madrid on May 10, and finally Real Betis on May 17.

Barcelona might not even need a win, or even a draw, in their away matches against Getafe, Osasuna, Alavés, and Valencia to retain the La Liga title.

It remains possible that Barcelona could celebrate the title against Real Madrid in El Clásico if Álvaro Arbeloa’s team loses any of their remaining matches, provided Barça wins all of theirs.

The only scenario for Real Madrid to win the title now is for Barcelona to lose four of their remaining eight matches, as even if the two teams finish level on points, the Catalan club would still hold the advantage on goal difference.
