South African media outlets have reported reports of negotiations between Zamalek and Pitso Mosimane regarding the possibility of him taking over as coach of the White Castle in the coming period in the event that Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira is dismissed.
It is now expected that Ferreira will be ousted if Zamalek stumbles against Al-Bank Al-Ahly or Tala’ea El-Geish, or if he fails to lead Zamalek to the Egyptian Super Cup title, where the White Knights will face Pyramids FC in the semifinals on November 6.
Mosimane recently left his position as coach of Esteghlal Tehran due to the Iranian club’s financial crisis. According to reports, he welcomes the move to return to the Egyptian Premier League and lead Zamalek.
A responsible source within Zamalek responded to these rumors, confirming that they are completely baseless.
Current coach Ferreira enjoys the full support of the Zamalek board of directors and sporting director John Edward, and there is no intention of dismissing him. Contrary to what the South African press claims, no communication channels have been opened with Mosimane.
John Edward, in particular, is determined to give Ferreira a full chance, considering that the coach is currently facing severe difficulties due to the stifling financial crisis. Therefore, he has no intention of dismissing him now and wants him to stay at least until the end of the current season.
It is worth noting that Zamalek has slipped in the Egyptian Premier League standings to fifth place, but they managed to reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Somalia’s Dekedaha 7-0 on aggregate in the round of 32.
