Real Madrid presented their latest signing, Dean Huijsen, to the Santiago Bernabéu crowd on Tuesday, revealing the number the rising Spanish star will wear during his time with the club.
Real Madrid paid €58 million to Bournemouth for the 19-year-old defender, at the request of coach Xabi Alonso, who sees him as the ideal choice to bolster the central defense position.
According to Marca, Den Huijsen will wear the number 24 shirt for Real Madrid during the 2025 Club World Cup.
This is not expected to be his permanent shirt number with Real Madrid. He typically uses the number 24 as a temporary number for new signings, and he has the right to change it at most before the end of the summer transfer window on August 31.
The number 24 shirt has been worn by many Real Madrid players. Of the current generation, Arda Güler was the last to do so, followed by Dani Ceballos. In general, it has been worn by stars such as Sami Khedira, Mariano Díaz, Illarramendi, and others.
Huijsen wore the number 2 shirt last season with Bournemouth, and has also worn numbers 12 and 14 with the Spanish youth team.
