The curtain came down on the quarter-finals of the Europa League and the European Conference League, with exciting confrontations and many surprises in the return matches on Thursday.
Without a doubt, the biggest surprise was Liverpool’s farewell to the European League, after Jurgen Klopp’s squad failed to perform a “remontada” against Atalanta and settled for a 1-0 win.
Bayer Leverkusen qualified for the semi-finals and continued its unbeaten streak this season, while Roma eliminated its compatriot Milan by defeating them again, but this time 2-1 at the Olimpico.
At the level of the European Conference League, Aston Villa succeeded in crossing Lille on penalties due to the brilliance of Emiliano Martinez, and Fiorentina, the runner-up of the last edition, reached the same round in Primontada against Viktoria Plzeň.
