Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior promised the club’s fans a great team performance against Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie, scheduled for next Tuesday.
The Brazilian’s comments came after Real Madrid’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo in the opening match of La Liga’s 27th round on Friday.
When asked about the City game, Vinicius confidently replied, “We want to see the great version of Real Madrid against Manchester City, to be the team that dominates, attacks, and fights for every ball.”
He added, “I was a little tired against Celta Vigo because I’ve played a lot recently, but we must always be ready for challenges.”
He continued, “We have to be perfect against City, and we ask the fans to do what they always do: push us with their chants and make the Bernabéu a very difficult place for the opposition.”
“I feel I’m in top form, working hard every day with the coaching staff and my teammates to reach this level,” he added.
The 25-year-old Vinicius has made 39 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions this season, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.
