Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior appeared extremely angry after being substituted in the Champions League match against Kairat, which many attributed to a deteriorating relationship with coach Xabi Alonso.
Over the past few matches, Alonso has insisted on substituting Vinicius on every occasion, and each time, the Brazilian star’s anger was clearly evident on his face. This was repeated in the Kairat match.
However, AS newspaper confirmed that Vinicius’ anger in the Kairat match was not due to the substitution or to Alonso, but specifically to his teammate Franco Mastrantuono.
The first person to anger Vinicius was Arda Güler, specifically, for not passing the ball to him on more than one scoring opportunity.
But what really drove Vinicius to his utmost fury was Mastrantuono, specifically when Kylian Mbappé passed the ball to him on the edge of the penalty area. Vinicius appeared on the opposite side without any pressure, and instead of passing the ball to the Argentine and giving him a chance to score, he decided to shoot with his weaker right foot.
Vinicius became furious at this incident. He was then substituted, and Alonso tried to calm him down. However, he exploded again on the touchline and explained to his coach why he was in such a state of agitation.
Things like this happen all the time between players, and it’s unlikely they’ll affect Vinicius’ relationship with Mastrantuono, or even Alonso’s perspective on the entire situation.
