Recent negotiations between Real Madrid’s management and Vinicius Junior regarding the renewal of his contract have become extremely complicated, placing the Brazilian international’s future at the Santiago Bernabéu in serious doubt.
Cadena Ser revealed the latest developments in the Vinicius renewal case. While the information may not be new, it is the first time it has directly and clearly reached Real Madrid’s management.
Vinicius’ agent informed Real Madrid officials that his client has one condition for renewing with the club: simply receive the same salary as Kylian Mbappé, which amounts to approximately €30 million per year.
So far, Real Madrid’s management has rejected this condition, believing it would disrupt the salary structure and plunge the club into a cycle of economic crises, especially since other players, such as Jude Bellingham and others, will demand salaries close to that.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s management believes that Mbappé is currently the star player in Xabi Alonso’s squad, and therefore deserves the highest salary at the club. This message was sent indirectly by the decision to award him the number 10 shirt, succeeding Luka Modric.
Vinicius Junior’s current contract with Los Blancos runs until the summer of 2027, and voices within Florentino Pérez’s administration have begun to call for him to be sold this summer and not wait too long, to reap financial benefits from him rather than lose him for free after two years.
From the player’s perspective, the Brazilian’s priority remains staying with Real Madrid, but he wants assurances that he is the star player, not Mbappé, or at least that they are equal in status within the team, and his salary is the means to confirm this.
