Valencia are keen to sign the Egyptian national team star

Egyptian media outlets reported that Valencia have renewed their interest in signing Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir after his outstanding performance in Tuesday’s friendly match between Egypt and Spain.

The 25-year-old kept a clean sheet against La Roja, making several crucial saves in the goalless draw.

Valencia have already signed another Al Ahly player, Aliou Dieng, who will officially join Los Che next season on a free transfer after his contract with the Cairo giants expires.

Now, Valencia are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping position, and Shobeir is among a shortlist of three players they are considering signing this summer.

Shobeir is currently competing with Antonio Severa of Deportivo Alavés and Aaron Escandell of Real Oviedo for the starting goalkeeper position at Valencia next season.

Shobeir’s contract with Al Ahly remains valid for two more years, and it is highly likely that Mahmoud El Khatib’s administration will refuse his departure, even though he has not yet had a full opportunity to play regularly for the Red Devils.

It is worth noting that Al Ahly has been alternating between Mostafa Shobeir and Mohamed El Shenawy in goal this season, and if the Egyptian club wants to keep the promising goalkeeper, they will likely have to sacrifice their experienced keeper first and foremost.
