Egyptian media revealed that Swiss Urs Fischer will not be the new coach of Al Ahly, succeeding sacked coach José Riveiro.
Al Ahly is intensifying its search for a world-class foreign coach, and Fischer has been the most likely name within the Red Castle in recent days.
According to recent reports, Al Ahly has failed to reach an agreement with Fischer on contract details, leaving the Swiss out of the Egyptian club’s plans for the upcoming period.
Meanwhile, Fischer has become a strong candidate to return to coaching in the German Bundesliga, and is said to be the most likely to succeed Gerardo Seoane at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Fischer had been willing to take over at Al Ahly if he received a substantial financial offer, but the offer and other conditions regarding assistants and other matters did not meet his expectations.
Al Ahly has set its sights on Portuguese coach Fernando Santos, but it prefers to wait for Panathinaikos’ offer at the moment and prefers to remain in European stadiums.
