Having already secured the high-profile signing of Salah following the end of his historic spell at Liverpool, Trabzonspor’s management is eager to add another marquee name to its project. The club is actively seeking to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding Benzema’s future at Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

According to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Trabzonspor officials have initiated contact with Benzema and his representatives. The move comes after discussions stalled with Al Hilal regarding a loan move for Uruguayan forward Darwin Núñez, who now appears closer to joining Al Diriyah.

Escalating Tensions with Simone Inzaghi

Benzema’s future at Al Hilal has become increasingly uncertain just six months after joining the club from Al Ittihad in the winter transfer window on a contract running through June 2027.

Despite an impressive start—scoring 9 goals in his first 13 appearances and adding another in the season opener against Al Faisaly—Benzema clashed with head coach Simone Inzaghi after reacting angrily to being substituted. The incident created a rift with the Italian manager, who reportedly prefers a younger, more press-resistant striker to execute his tactical system.

With Al Hilal actively pursuing Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, the club is open to facilitating Benzema’s departure before finalizing their new attacking signing.

The €100 Million Financial Hurdle

While Benzema is open to leaving Al Hilal during the summer transfer window, he is demanding the full payout of his remaining contract—a sum exceeding €100 million.

This financial requirement remains the primary obstacle for Al Hilal. Until a financial compromise is reached between the Saudi club and the French striker, Trabzonspor will have to wait before making concrete progress in their negotiations.
