Ferran Torres delivered an exceptional performance in Barcelona’s 5-3 victory over Real Betis in La Liga on Saturday.
Antonio gave the Andalusian club the lead in the sixth minute, before Torres equalized in the 11th minute, scored his second in the 13th, and then netted Barcelona’s fourth in the 40th minute.
Barcelona ultimately won 5-3, maintaining their lead in La Liga, while Ferran Torres reignited the competition for the 2025-26 La Liga top scorer title.
Kylian Mbappé is enjoying a phenomenal season with Real Madrid, scoring 16 goals in La Liga alone. For a moment, it seemed the Frenchman had secured the top scorer title for the second consecutive season.
But Torres’ hat-trick took his tally to 11 goals, narrowing the gap with Mbappé to just 5. While the Real Madrid star still holds a clear advantage, it’s within reach.
A key advantage of Torres’ record is that all 11 of his goals have come from open play, while Mbappé has scored 4 from penalties.
Despite missing significant time this season, Robert Lewandowski remains in contention, having scored 8 goals, the same number as Real Mallorca’s Vedat Muriqi.
