Thomas Tuchel confirmed his departure from Bayern Munich at the end of the current season, despite what was said that the Bavarian management is trying to convince him to continue for another year.
As Bayern’s results deteriorated last February, Bayern decided to dismiss Tuchel and began the search for his successor since then.
So far, Bayern has failed to reach an agreement with any coach, so they once again began negotiating with Tuchel about continuing in his position until the end of his contract in the summer of 2025.
Despite Tuchel’s openness to the matter, the two parties did not reach an agreement, which was announced by Tuchel in the press conference for his last match with Bayern this season against Hoffenheim.
“This is my last press conference as coach of Bayern Munich,” Tuchel said.
He also added, “There were negotiations, but we did not reach an agreement, so the February decision (his departure at the end of the season) remains as it is.”
Tuchel’s shocking decision to refuse to continue with Bayern was attributed by newspapers to his demand to renew his contract for another year, while the German club wanted him only as a temporary option for next season.
The identity of Bayern’s new coach remains ambiguous, but now all eyes will go to Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbe as he is the preferred choice of sporting director Max Eberl.
