The newspaper Sport revealed that Thiago Alcantara received a coaching offer from a La Liga team, but he rejected it, preferring to remain as Hansi Flick’s assistant coach.
Thiago began his coaching career a few months after retiring as a player, working alongside Flick in August 2024. He left after a month and returned at the start of this season to continue his role as the German’s assistant at Barcelona.
Sport indicated that Levante was interested in appointing Thiago after sacking coach Julián Calero, but the former Barça star rejected the idea outright, believing it was too early to take such a step.
Thiago has no plans to lead any coaching project in the near future and believes that the best course of action for his still-developing career is to stay with Flick, learn from him, and gain the necessary experience.
Meanwhile, Thiago does not yet possess a coaching license to manage a La Liga team, but he is expected to obtain it soon after completing a special course for international players in Spain.
Thiago is seen as a potential future option for Barcelona, perhaps not immediately after Flick given his relative inexperience, but he remains a name expected to succeed in the coaching world, just as Xabi Alonso was viewed with optimism and has lived up to expectations.
