Liverpool will only consider signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo in one scenario, as revealed by the French newspaper L’Equipe.
The Brazilian international is keen to continue with the club next season, but he is finding his situation difficult after falling out of favor with coach Xabi Alonso, which makes it likely that he will leave in the final days of the current summer transfer window.
Liverpool could be Rodrygo’s new destination if the Reds fail to sign either Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak or Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.
The Reds’ primary goal this summer is to secure Isak, but the deal is currently on hold due to Newcastle’s failure to sign a successor to the Swedish star. The deal is likely to collapse completely if the dispute between the two clubs continues.
Liverpool would then turn to Barcola, but the deal would be expensive, exceeding €100 million, and Paris Saint-Germain is still holding out for the player.
If Barcola’s option fails, the Reds’ management will have no choice but to choose Rodrygo, especially since his cost will be lower than the two players (only between €70 and €90 million), especially since Arne Slot is determined to further strengthen the attack following the departures of Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez.
It’s worth noting that Real Madrid is open to the idea of selling Rodrygo to generate some financial profit this summer, following Florentino Pérez’s massive transfer deals, which reached a value of nearly €200 million.
