The crisis between Marc-André ter Stegen and Barcelona doesn’t appear to be over anytime soon, following a controversial new move by the German goalkeeper that could further intensify the conflict between the two parties.
Sport newspaper revealed that Ter Stegen has refused to accept any visits from the club’s doctors at his home to monitor the latest developments in his injury.
Although Barcelona doctors were present in the operating room with Ter Stegen and other medical staff in Bordeaux when he underwent back surgery, the player currently does not want to interact with any Catalan club officials.
The 33-year-old is content to implement his recovery program at the sports city facilities, without missing appointments, to ensure he receives his regular salary and to avoid any new disciplinary action from the club.
His refusal to present the offer to Barcelona’s doctors represents a new challenge from Ter Stegen to the club, no less significant than his previous refusal to communicate with Joan Laporta’s management and cancel a meeting scheduled to discuss his possible departure.
The current crisis between Ter Stegen and Barcelona stems from the German goalkeeper’s refusal to sign the medical report stating that he needs at least four months to recover. This will prevent the club from registering another player in his place, specifically new goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
It is worth noting that, as the first disciplinary action against Ter Stegen, Barcelona decided to strip him of the captaincy and award it to Ronald Araujo. The goalkeeper is currently under investigation for his refusal to sign the report and his extreme intransigence against the club.
