Journalist Alex Kendall claimed that Lionel Messi wants to return to Barcelona before retiring from football.
The Argentine icon cut ties with the La Liga giants in 2021, as Barcelona’s financial difficulties meant the club was unable to reach an agreement to renew his contract, prompting him to leave for Paris Saint-Germain.
After two years in France, Messi decided to pursue the American dream in 2023. He is now with Inter Miami in the American League and has helped them win the League Cup.
Kendall, who was the first to report that Messi would move to Inter Miami, says that the flea wants to return to Europe, claiming that the 37-year-old said: “I can’t leave football without playing at the new Camp Nou.”
Messi’s contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of the current season, and renewal negotiations between the two parties are still faltering and without an agreement.
