Portuguese newspapers have circulated surprising and shocking news, particularly for Arsenal, about Manchester United’s impending acquisition of the Gunners’ biggest signing of the current summer transfer window.
Arsenal has reached an agreement with Viktor Gyökeres on all the details of his transfer to the London club. However, disagreements between Gunners officials and Sporting Lisbon over the deal’s value and add-ons are currently hindering the deal.
According to the Portuguese newspaper “Record,” Manchester United has entered into negotiations with Sporting Lisbon in recent hours. Surprisingly, the Red Devils have almost reached an agreement with their counterparts at the Portuguese club on the terms of the deal.
However, the only obstacle preventing Gyökeres from arriving at Old Trafford is the player’s desire to move to Arsenal and no other club. Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim is said to be attempting in the coming hours to persuade the Swede to reunite with him at Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is unconcerned about United’s involvement and is confident that Gyökeres will keep his word by joining only the Emirates Stadium, especially since he has not yet spoken with Red Devils officials. Prior to that, he informed Lisbon that he only wanted Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Arsenal faced a similar situation at the start of the summer transfer window, when they completed a deal with Martin Zubimendi. Real Madrid then appeared and attempted to sign the Basque star, but the former Real Sociedad player insisted on the Gunners and ended up at the Emirates Stadium as well.
