According to the newspaper “Sport,” Manchester City has made initial contact with the agent of Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé to explore the possibility of signing him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The French club is currently trying to renew Dembélé’s contract, which expires in the summer of 2028. However, the 28-year-old’s high financial demands are preventing a deal from being finalized so far.
According to the latest report, Manchester City’s sporting director, Hugo Viana, met with Dembélé’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, in what could be considered the first step towards entering into major negotiations between the two parties for the French star’s transfer to the Etihad Stadium.
The content of this meeting is unknown, as is whether Dembélé agreed to join Pep Guardiola’s squad, but it will undoubtedly significantly alter PSG’s negotiations with the player in the coming period.
Manchester City officials are aware that signing Dembélé will not be easy. On the one hand, the English club must meet the player’s high wage demands, which are reportedly as high as €60 million per year.
On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain will not easily part with Dembélé and are not expected to accept less than €150 million for the 2025 Ballon d’Or and FIFA Best Player award winner.
It is worth noting that Saudi Arabian clubs are closely monitoring the situation, hoping to sign Dembélé next season, although the player currently prefers to remain in European football.
