Jurgen Klopp could return to manage Liverpool and replace Arne Slot at Anfield, according to The Sun.
The Dutch manager’s future is hanging by a thread due to a significant decline in performance and results. It’s said that the upcoming matches against West Ham and Sunderland will be Slot’s last chance to turn things around, otherwise, his dismissal will be inevitable.
Liverpool has already begun exploring all available options to replace Slot, and one of the names that has emerged is Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool is considering a temporary return for Klopp, who would replace Slot, guide the team to safety, and then leave at the end of the season, handing the reins to a permanent manager.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique remains Liverpool’s top target, but the Reds’ hierarchy are certain he cannot replace Slot directly this season.
The Spaniard’s departure from PSG will be complicated regardless, as his contract runs until 2027, and it’s highly unlikely that Nasser Al-Khelaifi would allow him to leave next summer.
Liverpool’s management is still exploring options for a manager, and the most likely scenario at the moment is appointing an interim manager until the end of the season if Slott is sacked. John Henry’s administration dreams of Klopp being that manager.
The German coach currently serves as CEO of the Red Bull Group clubs and has repeatedly stated that he doesn’t want to return to coaching anytime soon and is enjoying his life away from the sport.
However, Klopp maintains strong relationships with Liverpool fans and even the club’s management, which opens the door for him to accept this interim role, just as Jupp Heynckes did with Bayern Munich in 2017 after the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti.
