Despite things going well for him at Al-Ittihad, Karim Benzema wants to leave the club, according to the New York Post, which also identified the French star’s next destination.
Benzema’s contract with Al-Ittihad expires at the end of the current season, and expectations were that he would renew it in light of a very distinguished season that could culminate in a domestic double, especially since the player is already involved in planning the future of the Saudi club.
However, the latest report claims that Benzema has had enough of what he has achieved in Saudi Arabia and now wants to have one last experience before retiring: moving to play in the American League.
To this end, Benzema has hired the services of renowned New York immigration attorney Michael Wildes to facilitate his obtaining the P-1 sports visa previously obtained by his compatriot Olivier Giroud to play for Los Angeles FC.
The United States has recently attracted the world’s top football stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Interest in moving there has increased due to the quality of life there, as well as the remarkable development of the game since Lionel Messi’s transfer to Inter Miami.
So far, Benzema has not commented on the matter, positively or negatively. He previously confirmed that he has no intention of retiring despite reaching the age of 36, while he did not deny that he dreams of working for Real Madrid in an administrative position when his career as a footballer ends.
