While Como officials have denied the idea of signing Cristiano Ronaldo due to his contract, the Italian club’s coach, Cesc Fabregas, has opened the door to signing Lionel Messi one day.
Fabregas has a close relationship with Messi since they played together at Barcelona for years, and the family relationship between the two stars’ wives is also very strong.
Messi’s wife, Antonella, appeared at Como’s friendly match against Lille a few days ago, and Fabregas was then asked if Messi might one day join his club.
The Spanish legend responded by saying, “Never say impossible! He was at my house on holiday.”
He added, “Friends, as well as our wives and children. And as Lodi (Como’s sporting director) said, we can’t say Messi won’t play for Como, but he’s in America now.”
Messi’s contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of this year, and reports from the United States suggest that the Flea is about to renew his contract for another two years with the David Beckham-owned club.
Messi previously confirmed that he is not interested in playing again in Europe unless he returns to Barcelona. He has also received significant interest from Saudi league clubs, but his priority remains remaining in America for family reasons.
