Surprise… Ancelotti Could Return to Real Madrid!

The Spanish newspaper AS reported that Davide Ancelotti is among the candidates to coach Real Madrid should Xabi Alonso be dismissed.

Carlo Ancelotti’s son previously served as his father’s assistant coach at Real Madrid during two separate stints, playing a significant role in the Italian’s successes at the Bernabéu, particularly during his second spell.

Davide enjoys great popularity among Real Madrid players and has a strong relationship with them. He also recently demonstrated his coaching abilities by guiding Botafogo to safety in the Brazilian league.

According to the report, Florentino Pérez’s administration has been considering Davide Ancelotti recently, especially given his unbeaten run in his last 10 matches as Botafogo’s coach.

Thanks to Ancelotti’s efforts, the Brazilian club qualified for the Copa Libertadores before he decided to resign, concluding his tenure with the Brazilian giants.

Now, Ancelotti Jr. is a candidate to coach Real Madrid, on a shortlist that also includes Álvaro Arbeloa and Santiago Solari, pending Florentino Pérez’s final decision regarding Xabi Alonso’s future after the final match against Sevilla in 2025.

Ancelotti is attracting interest from several European clubs, most notably Real Sociedad and Rayo Vallecano, and has also been on the radar of clubs in the United States and South America.

In recent hours, Brazilian media outlets have indicated that Davide Ancelotti will likely join his father, Carlo, as an assistant coach with the Brazilian national team for the 2026 World Cup before moving on to become the head coach.
