Al-Riyadh newspaper revealed that Al-Ittihad’s management is making a move to sign one of Al-Hilal’s most prominent stars once his contract with the Blue Wave expires at the end of the current season.
The player in question is Ruben Neves, who has already entered the final six months of his contract, and Al-Hilal’s management has yet to reach an agreement with him for renewal. He is now closer to leaving the Blue Wave than continuing with them.
Neves’ agent is Jorge Mendes, who has close ties to Al-Ittihad’s management. He also represents coach Sergio Conceição, as well as Fabinho and Danilo Pereira. This connection could significantly contribute to convincing the Portuguese star to join Al-Ittihad.
According to the report, preliminary talks have already begun between Al-Ittihad officials and Neves’ agent, hoping to reach an agreement that would see the player move from Riyadh to Jeddah on a free transfer next summer.
Neves had already begun searching for a new club at the start of the winter transfer window, and he was even linked with European giants such as Real Madrid and Manchester United.
The option of staying in Saudi Arabia remains on the table for the 28-year-old, especially since the salary that Al-Ittihad will offer is one that no European club could afford for the former Wolverhampton star.
