Al-Ahly received a major shock after it was confirmed that Emam Ashour will miss the remaining matches of the 2025 Club World Cup due to injury.
The Egyptian international left the opening match against Inter Miami just 12 minutes into the match, crying, suffering from a severe shoulder injury.
According to Egyptian media, Emam Ashour has been diagnosed with a collarbone injury. He underwent comprehensive tests and is awaiting the results to determine the extent of the injury.
It is currently most likely that Ashour has suffered a collarbone fracture, and he will need at least three weeks to recover and return to training again, if not longer, depending on the speed of the muscle’s healing.
Emam will undergo urgent surgery within hours in the United States. Even if the injury is less serious than expected, he will not be able to play in any other matches at the World Cup.
This isn’t the first time the player has suffered a similar injury. He previously suffered a dislocation between his collarbone and shoulder blade during a match with the Egyptian national team in March 2024, which sidelined him for two months.
Al-Ahly will face Brazilian side Palmeiras next Thursday, followed by a clash with Porto on Tuesday morning, hoping to secure a top-four finish and qualify for the round of 16, following a goalless draw against Inter Miami in the first round.
