Shock in Barcelona: Joan Garcia out of El Clásico!

Shocking news continued to plague Barcelona on Friday evening, the latest of which concerned the injury to goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Mundo Deportivo reported that Garcia’s injury did not occur during Barça’s training session on Friday, but rather occurred in the final moments of the match against Real Oviedo. However, he did not feel any pain until this morning, and immediately underwent medical tests, which initially indicated that his absence would not be prolonged.

However, further comprehensive tests confirmed that Garcia’s injury was much more serious than expected. He had suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee and would require immediate surgery.

After his expected absence was no more than two weeks, there is now talk that Garcia will not return for another month and a half, meaning by the beginning of November or after the international break in that month.

This isn’t Garcia’s first meniscus injury. He suffered the same injury in 2019, missing more than 100 days, or approximately three and a half months, raising concerns at Camp Nou about the long absence of the distinguished Spanish goalkeeper.

However, doctors so far confirm that he will not need more than six weeks, a statement from Barcelona’s official statement just minutes ago.

This confirms Garcia’s absence from the Real Madrid-Barcelona El Clásico, scheduled for October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu. Szczesny will be Barça’s first-choice goalkeeper throughout his absence, while his replacement will be 18-year-old Eder Aler.
