Shock in Barcelona: Gavi faces a very long absence!

Gavi’s knee condition is not improving, and Barcelona is seriously considering surgery to resolve the issue. However, this would also mean a prolonged absence for the 20-year-old.

Gavi suffered an injury to his right knee before the recent match against Rayo Vallecano, which had previously suffered a cruciate ligament injury. Sources within Barcelona suggested that it was just discomfort and that the player needed rest and would return after the recent international break.

As newspaper confirmed that Gavi continues to experience pain from time to time, and the player is unable to train with the team. All conventional medical options have been exhausted, and surgery is now the last resort.

In principle, Gavi’s knee surgery would require two or three months of recovery and a return to action, meaning that his participation in almost any match in 2025 would be highly doubtful.

Barcelona wants to wait until the last minute before deciding on surgery, especially since his knee is sensitive due to the cruciate ligament injury and last year’s surgery. There are fears that the player may not fully recover and his career may collapse, as happened previously with Ansu Fati.

Gavi’s absence represents a major blow to coach Hansi Flick, limiting his options in midfield. However, the German has no intention of taking any risks with the young player under any circumstances, preferring to give him full time to recover, regardless of the pressures surrounding him.
