Sevilla coach Matías Almeyda has received a lengthy ban from La Liga following his actions during the recent match against Deportivo Alavés.
The match, played at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, ended in a 1-1 draw as part of Matchday 24 of La Liga.
The Argentine coach was shown a red card during the Alavés game after entering the pitch and arguing with the referee for over a minute.
As a result of his actions, La Liga has suspended him for seven matches.
The league revealed the details of the lengthy ban: one match for the red card, two matches for dissent, one match for refusing to leave the pitch, and three matches for misconduct.
As a result, Almeida will miss Sevilla’s upcoming matches against Getafe, Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona, Valencia, Real Oviedo, and Atlético Madrid, returning on April 22nd against Levante.
Sevilla currently sits in 13th place in La Liga with 26 points, just two points above the relegation zone.
